When the comunity was closed because of the pandemic, many habits and trends did change for us. We created new habits och routines. We have collected some foodtrends 2022.

More and more people are trying to find the solution to our problems in food and less in tablets. Squeezing fruits and vegetables into smoothies has become more and more popular over the years. Wich is not at all strange as the pandemic has been going on for several months, wich leads to us wanting to strengthen the body through a healthy diet to build up the immune system.

More spices in the restaurants.

It is trendy with a more exotic spice mix in the restaurants, everything from saffron, nepal, maca powder, seaweed and Japanese shichimi togaraschi. If you want to know more about this, you will find more information here

Use more than once.

 

Reuse and circulation of packaging has been seen to increase and packaging-free stores are now available both in the form of psysical stores and e-commerce. According to trendscouts, the number of restaurants that circulate coffe cups has increased recently. Even products with smaller packaging, where the customer cuts out the product, for example soap, with water at home is also something that is going on i Sweden.

The menus in the restaurants show us vegetarian on the top-list. It becoming more and more popular every year. Both they who change their entire diet or those who eat meat but often choose vegetarian. Meat-free Mondays are a growing phenomenon. It is a campaign who supose to highlight the enviroment impact of meat consumption and animal farming. You can find more and more vegetarian recipes wich make it easier for those who are curious. 

Healthy snacks.

It is been talking about snacks in many years, but under the pandemic it has been focus at being healthy lifestyle with healthy snacks. The increase has been reported to be 40-60% in Trendspotting at Foodfriends. 
Tips on healthy snacks:

- Dark chocolate
- Nuts
- Vegetables with dip

Social media sets the trends. Social media is growing more and more every year, they have a big impact on users, especially in the cooking. A good example is the famous TikTok pasta that went viral in 2021with tomato, feta cheese and pasta, or the TikTok wrap.

Hasselback potatoes and pancakes.

During the pandemic it is many who work from home, have more free-time och can spend more time in the kitchen with the family. According to ICA's report "Matvanor i kris" have the recipe searches increased, the recipe that has the increased the most traffic on the top 20-list is the hasselback potato at 174% and the basic batter for pancakes at 48%.
