Choose the Right Fire Blanket

When choosing a fire blanket, size is an important factor. Tingstad's range includes models measuring 120×120 cm and 120×180 cm. The Swedish Fire Protection Association recommends a 120×180 cm fire blanket, partly because it can cover a larger area.

Also review the product design, markings, and product information before ordering.

Where Should the Fire Blanket Be Placed?

The fire blanket should be positioned where it can be reached quickly when needed. The Swedish Fire Protection Association recommends placing it in an easily accessible location, preferably in or near the kitchen, since many fires start there.

In workplaces, the location should be adapted to the specific risks and overall fire protection measures. The fire blanket should be easy to access and should not be placed where a fire could prevent access to it.

Fire Blankets as a Complement to Fire Extinguishers

A fire blanket is intended for small fires that can be safely covered by the blanket. It is therefore not a replacement for a fire extinguisher or other fire protection equipment. The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) and the Swedish Fire Protection Association describe the fire blanket as a complement to other extinguishing equipment.
