The blade is made of Japanese knife steel, 2.5 mm carbon steel that has been hardened to 58–60 HRC.

The edge is sharpened in several stages with a final honing on a leather disc. The handle and holster are made of extra impact-resistant PP plastic. The holster fits well both on a belt and on a button. If the belt is thick, cut off the small tab on the lid. The painters knife MK fits the same holster as HVK.
