C & D Batteries.
Powerful Energy for Demanding Equipment
When your equipment requires more power than a standard AA battery can deliver, the larger cylindrical batteries of type C and D are the go‑to choice. These batteries are reliable “workhorses” in professional environments and power everything from high‑output flashlights (such as Maglite) and portable radios to automatic soap and paper dispensers in restrooms. At Tingstad, you’ll find dependable bulk packs that keep your operations running longer.
What’s the Difference Between C and D?
It can sometimes be hard to tell the difference from a picture alone. Here are the basic rules of thumb for choosing the right size:
- C batteries (LR14): The medium‑sized option, often called Baby. Thicker than an AA battery but slimmer than a D battery. Commonly used in toys, mid‑sized flashlights, and certain musical instruments.
- D batteries (LR20): The largest cylindrical battery, often called Mono. This is the thickest and heaviest standard battery type, designed for high power consumption over extended periods. The standard choice for large flashlights, boom boxes, and many professional dispensers.
Technical Designations to Know
Manuals rarely say “the thick battery.” Look for these codes to be sure you’re choosing the right one:
- A C battery is technically designated LR14 (alkaline).
- A D battery is technically designated LR20 (alkaline).
