The CHERRY KC 1000 SC combines the benefits of a classic CHERRY office keyboard with the security-related requirements of a security keyboard. It is a smart, wired security keyboard with an integrated chip card terminal, allowing for secure PIN entry. It features a PC/SC smartcard reader and supports protocols: T=0, T=1, S=8, S=9, S=10. It is CCID compatible and can read/write ISO 7816 compliant smartcards. The flat design includes a low smart card contacting unit and satisfies requirements defined by FIPS-201. The German version has a DIN/GS compliant layout and offers driver support for Windows/MacOS-X/Linux. The smart card module can be operated with one hand. The German version complies with BGI 650 guidance for ergonomics and has been awarded the "Blaue Engel" environmental seal. The smart card reader is mechanical, with a hardware interface of USB.
