Tingstad's palm leaf products are made from fallen areca palm leaves that are collected, cleaned, and moulded under pressure. According to the material guide, no additives are used during the process.

Palm leaf offers an unusually wide temperature range compared with many other disposable materials. Tingstad's material guide states -25°C to +220°C, and the material can be used in microwave ovens. One palm leaf plate measuring 24 × 24 cm is specified for both oven and microwave use within this temperature range.
