Which Ceiling Light Should You Choose?

When choosing a ceiling light, it's a good idea to start by considering where it will be installed and what type of lighting is needed. A light above a restaurant table serves a different purpose than the lighting in a corridor or reception area.

Hanging Ceiling Lights and Pendant Lights

Hanging ceiling lights, often called pendant lights, work well above dining tables, reception desks, and other areas where you want to concentrate the light. They are available as smaller models with a single light source as well as larger fixtures with multiple light points.

Before ordering, check the lamp's dimensions and hanging height. It should provide sufficient light without obstructing the people using the space.

Flush-Mount Ceiling Lights for Lower Ceilings

A flush-mount ceiling light is installed closer to the ceiling and can be a good option for corridors, hotel rooms, and other areas where a hanging fixture would take up too much space.

Consider the size of the fixture and how the light is distributed throughout the room. Some models feature integrated LED lighting, while others use replaceable light sources.

Light Sources, Dimming and Installation

Check which bulb socket the fixture uses, whether light bulbs are included, and whether the light is dimmable. For larger ceiling lights, it is also important to review the weight and installation requirements.
