Which Ballpoint Pen Should You Choose?
A good ballpoint pen should feel comfortable in your hand and write the way you want it to. Some people prefer a slim, lightweight pen, while others prefer a thicker grip. If you write a lot during the day, it may be worth trying a few different models.
Classic Ballpoint Pens and Retractable Pens
A traditional ballpoint pen with a cap works well for note-taking and everyday writing. If you prefer a pen that is quick to use and put away, a retractable click pen may be more convenient. That way, you don't have to keep track of a cap.
There are also multi-color pens with several ink colors in a single pen. These are useful for planning and note-taking when you want to switch easily between colors.
Tip Size and Ink Color
The tip width affects how fine or bold the lines appear. A finer tip is suitable for small handwriting or when you need to fit a lot of text into a limited space, while a broader tip produces a stronger, more prominent line.
Black and blue are common colors for office work. Red and green can be useful for corrections, highlighting, and color-coding.
Keep in mind that the stated tip size is not always the same as the actual line width.
Ballpoint Pens with Different Ink Properties
Most standard ballpoint pens use oil-based ink that works well for everyday writing. Other models may offer special features such as quick-drying, waterproof, or archival-quality ink.
If you plan to use the pen for documents that need to be preserved for a long time, check that the ink meets the requirements for that type of document.
If you prefer a smoother writing experience, you may also want to explore our range of gel pens.
Refillable Ballpoint Pens
Some ballpoint pens can be refilled with a new ink cartridge when the original one runs out. This allows you to continue using the same pen instead of purchasing a new one.
Be sure to check which refill is compatible with your pen model before ordering. Even pens from the same manufacturer may use different cartridges.
