Choose the Right Lead Refill for Your Mechanical Pencil

When your leads start running out, there’s no need to buy a new pencil. Simply refill it with new leads in the correct size. The most important thing is to check which lead diameter your mechanical pencil is designed for.

0.5 mm or 0.7 mm Lead?

Both sizes work well for everyday writing, but there are some differences:

• 0.5 mm: Produces fine lines and is well suited for small notes, sketches, and detailed drawing work.
• 0.7 mm: Produces slightly wider lines and can be a good choice for everyday writing. The thicker leads are also less likely to break.

Keep in mind that the leads must match the pencil mechanism. A mechanical pencil designed for 0.5 mm leads cannot be used with 0.7 mm leads.

What Do H, HB, and B Mean?

Lead refills are available in different hardness grades. The best choice depends on how dark you want your writing to be and what the pencil will be used for.

• H: Harder lead that produces lighter and finer lines. Suitable for technical drawing and detailed work.
• HB: A versatile all-round choice for notes and general writing.
• B: Softer lead that produces darker lines.
• 2B–7B: Even softer lead used for sketching, drawing, and shading.

For regular office notes, HB is usually a good choice. If you're drawing or sketching, it may be worth trying different hardness grades.

Stylus Pens for Mobile Phones and Tablets

The range also includes stylus pens for touchscreens. These can be used for navigation, writing, or making simple markings on digital devices.

Be sure to check that the stylus is compatible with your mobile phone or tablet. Not all models offer the same features or compatibility.
