Which Whiteboard Marker Should You Choose?

The most important factors are the shape and width of the tip. Do you need to fill a large whiteboard with text that must be visible from across the room? In that case, a broader tip may be a better choice than a fine-tip marker.

Round or Chisel Tip?

• Fine tip: Suitable for smaller text, detailed notes, and tables where space is limited.
• Round tip: A good all-purpose option for everyday writing on whiteboards. It produces a fairly consistent line and works well for both text and simple sketches.
• Chisel tip: Allows you to vary the line width depending on how you hold the marker. Useful for headings, larger text, and highlighting.

Also consider how far away the text needs to be readable. In a large meeting room or classroom, broader and more visible lines are often needed compared to a small planning board.

Whiteboard Markers in Different Colors

Black and blue are common choices for notes and text, while red and green can be used to highlight important information.

If you use the whiteboard for schedules, project planning, or teaching, a multi-color marker set can be practical. It makes it easy to distinguish between tasks, dates, or subjects.

How to Remove Text from a Whiteboard

Whiteboard markers use ink designed to be erased from dry-erase boards. In most cases, a whiteboard eraser or a dry cloth is all you need.

If the writing has been left on the board for a long time, or if the surface has become dirty, you may need to clean it using a cleaner specifically designed for whiteboards.

Do not use permanent markers on a whiteboard. They are not designed to be erased in the same way.
