Things to Consider When Choosing an Evacuation Sign

Photoluminescent or Illuminated Evacuation Signs?

Photoluminescent signs can continue to glow for a period after being exposed to light. Illuminated or internally lit signs, on the other hand, use a light source to make symbols visible.

In premises where specific requirements apply to escape route guidance, a standard photoluminescent sign may not be sufficient. Therefore, check the regulations that apply to the building before choosing a sign.

Check Placement and Visibility

Evacuation signs need to be easy to spot and clearly indicate the correct route. Pay particular attention to signage at doors, corridors, and locations where the escape route changes direction.

The design, size, and lighting of the signage should be adapted to the premises. Also ensure that signs are not obscured by furnishings, shelving, or other equipment.
