Choose the Right First Aid Sign

First aid signs are used to indicate the location of equipment and make it easier to find when needed. The type of sign you need depends on what is being marked and where the sign will be installed.

Signs for First Aid Equipment and First Aid Kits

The green first aid sign featuring a white cross indicates the location of first aid equipment. It can be placed next to a first aid kit, first aid station, or storage area where equipment is kept.

There are also signs with text or symbols that indicate more specifically what type of equipment is available at a particular location.

Signs for Eye Wash Stations and Defibrillators

Where eye wash equipment or a defibrillator is available, it is important that the equipment is clearly marked.

An eye wash sign shows the location of eye irrigation equipment, while a defibrillator sign helps employees and visitors quickly locate the AED.

If the equipment is not directly visible, a directional arrow can be used together with the appropriate symbol to guide people to its location.

Placement and Materials

Choose a sign that is easy to see and understand in its intended location. The size and placement should be adapted to the premises, viewing distance, and visibility conditions.

In areas where lighting may be limited, a photoluminescent sign can be a good option. Check the product specifications and whether exposure to light is required for the sign to glow in the dark.
