Material guides.

It is important for us to help our customers make informed decisions and we constantly work to increase customers knowledge. With this guide you can learn more about the different materials we use.

Choose the right material for your packaging.

Every year about 500,000 tons of paper packaging and about 200,000 tons of plastic packaging in Sweden are used. In addition, 59 863 tons of plastic packaging and 133 068 tons of paper packaging were recovered by 2015.

Your choice of packaging and how you use it has a major impact on you as a customer, but also on the end consumer and our society. Therefore, it's advisable to take a few minutes to think about what material to choose and how this choice affects you. Ask yourself three questions:

  • Should the product be used for food?
  • Is there an option that is better for the environment?
  • How should the waste be handled?

Our business idea is to offer a wide range of affordable, quality products and solutions that simplify the work day of all our customer. We will do this with commitment, customer focus and honesty.

For us, responsible consumption means that we take responsibility for the products that we sell. We assess our products from a lifecycle perspective and we strive to provide our customers with the best choices. We advocate products made from renewable materials and recycled materials and we are constantly working to expand and improve our product range.

It is important for us to help our customers make informed decisions and we constantly work to increase our customers knowledge.

Renewable Materials.

Renewable Materials means products that are made from raw material that comes from plants, tree or other vegetation that can regenerate itself. Unlike fossil raw material, like oil used in plastic products, renewable material is a part of the existing bio-based carbon cycle and does not directly contribute to the greenhouse effect.

Examples of renewable materials are bamboo, bagasse (sugar cane fibers), paper (from trees) and PLA (from corn starch / sugar cane).

About ecolabelling.

In order for a product to be labeled Eco-labeled, a third party is required to assess the product based on environmental considerations. This third party sets out the requirements to be considered and then checks that this is followed. When this assessment is made, the manufacturer can use the label to show customers what products are preferable from an environmental perspective.

Below are the tags marked in Tingstad's product range.

Our Ecolabels

Nordic Swan Ecolabel.

The Nordic Swan Ecolabel purpose is to give consumers a clear and concise environmental product information, as well as promoting the development of products that are environmentally-sound.  Aspects that are reviewed are energy use in manufacturing, water consumption, the use of chemicals, as well as waste management. Companies apply for their product Swan labeled, then checked that the product complies with Swan's requirements through labs, certificates, documentation, and inspection visits.

EU Ecolabel.

EU Ecolabel works in the same way as the Nordic Swan label. The purpose is to promote products with reduced environmental impact throughout their life cycle. The label is also intended as a guide to consumers in their product selection. The products must meet environmental, functional and quality requirements. Since Sweden has Nordic Swan label labeling, there are few products with EU Ecolabel, the supply of these goods is greater in other EU countries.

Bra miljöval (Good Environmental Choice).

Bra miljöval, or Good Environmental Choice, belong to the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation and build on two basic ideas: that natural resources must be saved, and that biodiversity and human health should not be threatened. This means, among other things, that all toxic and biodegradable chemicals should be removed. In order for a product to be labeled with Good Environmental Choice, there are a number of requirements that companies have to live up to.

FSC – Forest Stewardship Council.

OEKO-TEX Standard 100.

OEKO-TEX Standard 100 is an independent testing and certification system for textile products. The material is tested so that there are no prohibited substances and substances in the textile. The more intensive contact between the skin and the product, the higher the requirements must be met. In order to be certified by the standard, all the components in the product must meet the requirements of the respective product classes.
