The secret behind a perfect, streak‑free window is not only the technique – it's the equipment. A professional squeegee with a sharp rubber blade is the most important tool for any window cleaner. Here you’ll find complete squeegees, ergonomic handles, separate channels and high‑quality replacement rubber from leading brands like Unger and Ettore.
The Rubber Blade – The Key to Success
The rubber blade is the most crucial part of your equipment. Professional rubber differs from consumer variants in precision and rubber composition. A good rubber blade should be “razor‑sharp” to pull off all water and leave the glass completely dry.
- Hard rubber: Best for warmer temperatures as it maintains its shape better and glides smoothly on warm glass.
- Soft rubber: Ideal for colder weather and uneven glass surfaces, as it adapts better to the surface.
- Replace often: A worn or nicked rubber blade will leave streaks immediately. Always keep spare blades on your belt.
Build Your Own Squeegee: Handle and Channel
Professional window cleaners often prefer building their own tools. With us, you can mix and match freely:
- Handles: Choose between fixed handles or models with a swivel head, which makes it easy to reach tight angles and work with the “S‑technique”. Ergonomic grips (e.g. Unger ErgoTec) reduce wrist strain during long shifts.
- Channels: We offer channels in brass, stainless steel and lightweight aluminium. Choose width based on window size – from narrow 15 cm for small panes to 45 cm or wider for large shopfronts.
Frequently Asked Questions About Squeegees
How often should I replace the rubber blade?
As soon as you see streaks or feel the glide getting worse. For professionals, this may mean weekly or even daily replacement during heavy use. You can usually flip the blade once to use the second sharp edge before replacing it completely.
What width should I choose?
The standard width for typical windows is 35 cm. It provides the best balance between coverage and control. For small windows or divided panes, choose 15–25 cm. For large shop windows, 45 cm or more saves time.
Do all handles fit all channels?
Most handles and channels from the same brand (e.g. Unger with Unger) fit perfectly. Many systems are compatible across brands, but for best fit and safety we recommend sticking to the same series.
