There are many different types of holders and systems. For everything to work properly, the napkin’s fold must match the dispenser. Here we explain the differences.

Which system do I have? (N1, N2, N4)

Often the system name is printed on the inside or underside of your dispenser. The most common standards are:

• N4 (Interfold): The most common standard for upright dispensers (e.g., Tork Xpressnap). The napkins are interlinked so that the next napkin is pulled forward automatically. Ideal for high-traffic environments.

• N2 (Fastfold): A slightly smaller napkin often used in tabletop dispensers.

• N1 (Counterfold): Flat napkins for counters where space is limited.

Why is Interfold technology better?

Dispenser napkins with “Interfold” technology are folded together in the stack. When the guest takes one napkin, the next one is pulled forward and ready for use.

Can I switch napkin brands?

Yes, as long as the system is the same, you can often switch brands. If your dispenser is marked “N4,” you can buy N4 napkins from various manufacturers. This allows you to choose the most cost-effective option without replacing your dispensers.
