Choose High-Visibility Trousers by Class and Work Environment

High-visibility clothing certified according to EN ISO 20471 is divided into three classes based on garment design and the amount of fluorescent and retroreflective material. The required class should be determined by the company’s risk assessment and the regulations applicable to the specific work environment.

The assortment includes high-visibility trousers in Class 1 and Class 2, among others. Always check the certification of the individual product and do not rely solely on colour or the amount of reflective material when selecting the correct protection level. If the trousers are combined with other high-visibility garments to achieve a specific overall class, that combination must also be approved.

Craftsman Trousers, Service Trousers, and Features

The nature of the work determines which features are most relevant. Craftsman trousers may include holster pockets, ruler pockets, and reinforced knee sections, while service trousers often have a cleaner design with alternative storage solutions. The assortment also includes models with stretch panels for jobs requiring a high degree of freedom of movement.

Kneepad pockets are particularly useful where a large amount of work is carried out on the knees. However, check the product information if certified knee protection is required. The presence of kneepad pockets alone does not mean the combination is certified. Certain Blåkläder models, for example, are certified to EN 14404 only when used with specified kneepads.

High-Visibility Trousers for Winter and Additional Protection Requirements

For outdoor work in cold conditions, insulated high-visibility trousers are available with features such as wind and waterproof protection, taped seams, snow gaiters, and braces, depending on the model. These properties vary between garments and should be compared in the product specifications.

There are also high-visibility trousers with additional protective properties, such as flame protection. If the workplace requires protection against heat, flames, cold, or other hazards, check the product’s specific certifications. EN ISO 20471 covers visibility only and does not replace other protective standards.
