Why is the ban being introduced?
The government has decided to implement a ban on cups with more than 15 percent plastic. The decision is based on an overarching effort to reduce the overall consumption of plastic and the impact single-use products have on the environment.
The hope is that the ban will lead to single-use cups on the market consisting as much as possible of renewable raw materials that degrade faster, for example, when littered.
