So, when you want to impress in the kitchen, whether it is to serve a good stew or a crisp bread - then the cast iron pot is a must!
Cast iron retains heat for a long time and moves seamlessly from stovetop to oven, making it an obvious choice for slow cooking and dishes that need to stay warm for extended periods. Le Creuset and Staub are the standard references in this segment. A cast iron pot requires hand washing and seasoning with oil, but will last for decades with proper care.
Stainless steel withstands heavy use, is easy to keep clean, and is ideal when you want a neutral pot for sauces, boiling and blanching. Hendi is a popular choice for businesses that prioritise functionality and durability.
Stoneware is primarily used for serving directly at the table. Mini casseroles in stoneware provide an attractive presentation and retain heat longer than porcelain, making them popular for tapas, gratins and warm starters.
As a rule of thumb, 1 litre serves approximately 2 portions for soups and stews. If you are running a buffet for 50 guests and serving two soups, you will need at least 25 litres of total capacity, distributed across several soup pots or stock pots. Use the volume filter in the menu on the left to quickly find the right size.
A tight-fitting lid retains moisture and flavour during slow cooking and reduces evaporation when holding food at a buffet. If you need to complement an existing pot, you can find replacement lids and universal lids under lids for saucepans and cookware.
