How to choose the right bag
The size and contents of your bag should reflect the risks in your operation. A carpenter working alone has very different needs than a large industrial workplace.
Size and scope (Small, Medium, Large)
Most manufacturers, such as Cederroth, divide their bags into logical size categories:
- Small / Personal: Fits in a glove compartment, on a belt or in a toolbox. Contains the essentials for minor wounds and light bleeding.
- Medium / Trades: A good standard bag for service vehicles or small offices. Often includes burn gel, a breathing mask and larger dressings.
- Large / Industrial: Suitable for workplaces with higher risks or more employees. These bags often function as a mobile “emergency unit” and contain extensive equipment for everything from circulatory shock to serious wound injuries.
Hard case or soft bag?
- Hard cases (Cederroth): Cederroth bags are known for their durable rubber‑like plastic shells. They protect the contents from dust, moisture and impact, making them ideal for harsh environments such as construction sites and workshops.
- Soft bags & Kits: Soft textile bags (often referred to as “First Aid cushions”) are easy to store and perfect for passenger cars, truck cabins or boats where space is limited.
First aid in vehicles
Work environment authorities recommend that all professional vehicles carry first aid equipment.
- Passenger cars / taxis: A smaller kit or “Small” bag is usually sufficient.
- Heavy vehicles / forestry machines: A larger bag (Medium/Large) is recommended, supplemented with eye wash, as the risk of serious accidents is higher and assistance may be far away.
Replenish the bag regularly
A bag that has been used is no longer complete. Make it a habit to check the contents after every incident. All individual refill items can be found in the category /din-url-till-refillFirst Aid Refills.
